Basketball Recap: Southern Lehigh Takes a Loss

Southern Lehigh and Pottsville squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Southern Lehigh had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 55-36 to the Pottsville Crimson Tide. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crimson Tide apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.

Christian Alvarez was his usual excellent self, as he made all 9 shots he took to post 20 points for Pottsville. Alvarez is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 100% in the last 28 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was JuJu Bainbridge, who posted ten points.

Southern Lehigh has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. Pottsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Southern Lehigh does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pottsville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Bangor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pottsville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
