Softball Recap: Frederick Golden Eagles vs. Horizon Hawks        
        
		
             Frederick waltzed into their match  on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Horizon Hawks 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won eight contests by six  runs or more  so far this season.
  Payton Torres was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She  struck out 11 batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   six  hits. With that strong performance,  she is now averaging an impressive 5.1  innings per game. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-4 with a  triple, a  run, and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Avery Salisbury, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Ella Stromberg, who  went 1-for-4 with a  home run and three  RBI.
 Frederick  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 11  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horizon only tossed four.
 Frederick pushed their record up to 11-5 with that  win, which was their fifth straight  at home. As for Horizon,  the  defeat snapped their winning streak at four games  and leaves them with a 6-8 record.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frederick will challenge Pueblo West at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Pueblo West knows how to get  runs on the board -- the  squad has finished with ten run or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Frederick likes a good challenge. As for Horizon, they will welcome Niwot  at 3:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Horizon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5  runs per game  this season.
