Football Game Preview: Fulshear Chargers vs. George Ranch Longhorns

The Fulshear Chargers are taking a road trip to face off against the George Ranch Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Fulshear's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six games.

Fulshear is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Strake Jesuit on Thursday. The Chargers fell 42-38 to the Fighting Crusaders. The Chargers were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ryland Forks, who picked up 84 receiving yards and one TD. Shaan Patel was another key passer, throwing for 241 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt.

George Ranch never got on the board in their matchup on October 3rd, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Alief Elsik on Thursday. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 40-31. The victory continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won six in a row.

Fulshear better focus on containing Tony Morrison and Hayden Drinkard as the pair were huge in George Ranch's win. Morrison threw for 318 yards and three TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes, while Drinkard rushed for 157 yards and a pair of scores. Drinkard's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards dating back to last season. 105 of Morrison's passing yards were hauled in by Nick Perez.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to George Ranch's defensive line and their four sacks. Leading the way was Chinedu Umah with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

George Ranch's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4. As for Fulshear, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Fulshear against George Ranch when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-7 victory. In that contest, the Chargers amassed a halftime lead of 52-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
