Basketball Recap: Johnson Central Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Johnson Central won against Huntington Expression Prep on Tuesday with 98 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Johnson Central Golden Eagles beat the Expression Prep Academy Lions by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 98-95. The win was nothing new for the Golden Eagles as they're now sitting on six straight.

Austin Slone continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double with 46 points, 12 rebounds, and ten assists. His evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Brayden Shepherd was another key player, going 8-for-18 to rack up 23 points.

Expression Prep Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mitchell Cox, who shot 7-for-12 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in shooting accuracy (64%). Another player making a difference was Rasheed Morrison, who almost dropped a double-double with 27 points and nine boards.

Johnson Central's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 87.3 points over those games. As for Expression Prep Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Johnson Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 78-64 win against Paintsville on the 6th.
