The St. Pauls Bulldogs will face off against the Pine Forest Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row dating back to last season, St. Pauls turned things around against Lakewood on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 20-2 margin over the Leopards. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Zavannah Locklear made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Locklear was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Hailey Ray was a standout: she scored four runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madison Locklear, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Pine Forest never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Westover on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wolverines as they made off with an 18-1 victory.
Like St. Pauls, Pine Forest also got a great game from a two-way player: Mya Harris. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Harris was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Pine Forest got a massive performance out of Savannah Winstead, who scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Jaelyn Green was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
St. Pauls' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Pine Forest, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went St. Pauls' way against Pine Forest when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as St. Pauls made off with an 8-0 win. Does St. Pauls have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pine Forest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
