Game recap: Sheldon High School Football Team bests Grants Pass

EUGENE, Ore. - Sheldon (Eugene, Ore.) received a huge boost from its defense against Grants Pass (Ore.), as the unit scored 12 in defeating Grants Pass (Ore.), 62-7.

The Irish were up 49-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Taylor Alie touchdown pass to Mitchell Herbert in the first quarter.

Sheldon expanded its lead to 62 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Ryan Fisher to Spencer Clark.

The Eugene school put up 42 points in the first quarter en route to the win. The Irish scored on a Alie touchdown pass to Herbert, a Connor Strahm touchdown run, a touchdown pass by Alie to Herbert, a defensive touchdown, a defensive touchdown and a touchdown run by Lewis in the quarter.

Lewis was the top performer for Sheldon. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.



The Cavemen's lone touchdown came on an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter.

SHS had given up an average of 13.4 points prior to the contest.

Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 52-6 win for the Irish.
