Jackson Christian extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 6-0. They breezed past the Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels to the tune of 42-13. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 25 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Duece Lawrence, who rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Kingston Robinson got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jackson Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Jackson Christian's defense and their four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Tyson Bond and Kelsey Rose Jr., who racked up all four sacks between them. Bond also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Robinson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
As for Tipton-Rosemark Academy, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Jackson Christian is ranked 78th).
When it comes to explaining why Tipton-Rosemark Academy lost, don't look at Nix Fullen. Despite the final result, he rushed for 163 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 34 receiving yards.
Jackson Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 31-28 loss against Trinity Christian Academy on the 3rd. As for Tipton-Rosemark Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 49-13 victory against Fayette Academy on the 3rd.
