Basketball Recap: Clear Creek Comes Up Short

Clear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Flatirons Academy Bison 68-3. The Golddiggers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-2.

Elizabeth Rooney was Clear Creek's leading scorer, having posted two points. Rooney also led the team in rebounds with four.

Flatirons Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Annabelle Rakers out in front who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists. That's the most assists Rakers has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophie Rabus, who went 5 for 10 to rack up 10 points and eight boards.

Clear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Flatirons Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Clear Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-7 loss against Gilpin County on the 8th. As for Flatirons Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 42-15 victory against Loveland Classical on the 7th.
