Softball Recap: Central Cabarrus Comes Up Short

Central Cabarrus started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Lake Norman. They fell 8-4 to the Wildcats on Monday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Peyton Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Hood, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Central Cabarrus' defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Lake Norman, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Cabarrus will welcome Lake Norman Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lake Norman, they will square off against South Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
