Softball Recap: Horizon Comes Up Short

Horizon and Lake Minneola squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Horizon had to settle for second. They lost 6-0 to Lake Minneola. The match marked the first time this year in which Horizon was not able to get on the board.

Mackenzie Duncan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Horizon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maryn Neely, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Horizon is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 20-6. As for Lake Minneola, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-13.

Horizon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Minneola, they will square off against South Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
