Soccer Game Preview: Washington vs. Delta Streets Academy

The Washington Generals and the Delta Streets Academy Lions will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Washington knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Delta Streets Academy likes a good challenge.

Washington's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Wednesday. They blew past Bayou Academy 4-0. The Generals' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three games.

Meanwhile, Delta Streets Academy can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lee Academy, sneaking past 3-2.

Derek Zuniga and Fernando Ortiz scored all three of Delta Streets Academy's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Delta Streets Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Washington might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Delta Streets Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Washington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
