Softball Recap: Skyline Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Skyline can now relate to. They fell just short of the Emerald Ridge Jaguars by a score of 9-8 on Saturday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

Abby Haapala was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shea Staley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Devyn Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Skyline's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-6. As for Emerald Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.

Skyline does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Emerald Ridge, they have already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Jackson on the 24th.
