Basketball Recap: Environmental Charter Hawks vs. Geibel Catholic Gators
Environmental Charter played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 75-42 loss at the hands of the Geibel Catholic Gators. The Hawks were down 54-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tobias Howard, who posted 11 points. Tyler Hurst was another key player, putting up eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Geibel Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gary Tarbuk, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. What's more, Tarbuk also racked up seven boards, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Evan Strimel, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 20 points and five assists.
Environmental Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. As for Geibel Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Environmental Charter Hawks challenge the Serra Catholic Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Serra Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Environmental Charter likes a good challenge. As for Geibel Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Monessen at 7:30 p.m. Monessen will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Geibel Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
