Football Recap: Elisa Bhimsain and Domonise Franklin-Miller Pace Nova Defense

If Nova was riding high fresh off their 46-0 takedown of Northeast last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Nova Titans took a 25-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Western Wildcats on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Nova still got an impressive performance from Dezrihana Medina, who rushed for 74 yards on only eight carries.

Nova didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Elisa Bhimsain and Domonise Franklin-Miller. Franklin-Miller is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as she's now defended at least one in each of the last six games she's played. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The critical scores for Western came from Tearra Mortimer, TT McFadden, and Maddison Manragh.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-4. As for Western, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

After both having extra time off, Nova and South Plantation will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 4:00 p.m. on April 1st. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Nova 7.7, South Plantation 13.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Western will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:15 p.m. on April 1st.
