Football Recap: Union Spartans vs. North Duplin Rebels
Union extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They took a blow against the North Duplin Rebels, falling 49-20. The Spartans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rebels from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Union saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tobias Cromartie rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown. Cromartie's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 110 rushing yards.
As for North Duplin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1. 49 seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Carell Phillips continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 292 yards and four TDs while picking up 14.6 yards per carry. Those 292 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jayden Pope was another key rusher, rushing for 111 yards and one score on only nine carries.

That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Cromartie and Jaden Lewis. Meanwhile, North Duplin is set to take on their familiar foe East Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
