League recap: Hough enters state Top 25 with win

Hough was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Mooresville. The Huskies came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.

Hough extended the longest winning streak in 4A I-Meck this week by beating the Blue Devils, 38-14. The victory was the eighth in a row for Bobby Collins' team.

Larenz Bryant was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 164 yards on 14 carries as Vance topped North Mecklenburg. Ki-Jana Boger also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.

Josh Stilley threw for 181 yards and three touchdowns. He went 16-20 with one interceptions.

Corpening was the best wideout in the league this week as the Cougars bested the Vikings. Corpening tallied four receptions for 93 yards. Trey Foggie helped Vance's passing attack out by catching one ball for 41 yards.

Josh Ladowski provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lake Norman topped West Charlotte. He completed 14 passes for 140 yards and also ran for 65 yards. Ladowski's favorite target this week was Jermaine Blakely, who caught six passes for 69 yards.

The Huskies' Stilley and Sanders Poff have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A I-Meck in both passing and receiving yards. Stilley has thrown for 1543 yards this season, while Poff has 28 catches for 640 yards. Vance's Bryant leads the league in rushing yards with 1207.

Hough's Dre'an Long needs only 70 yards against the Wildcats next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Long has rushed for 930 yards on 177 carries so far this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lake Norman takes on the Huskies. Rob Mcneely's team is in fourth place, while Hough is in first place.

Mallard Creek took down Hopewell 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Marquez North in the win.
