Preview: Roanoke-Benson Rockets vs. Peoria Christian Chargers
Roanoke-Benson and Peoria Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Roanoke-Benson Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Peoria Christian Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Peoria Christian took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Roanoke-Benson, who comes in off a win.
Roanoke-Benson can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Lowpoint-Washburn by a score of 54-44. The victory was just what Roanoke-Benson needed coming off of a 69-46 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Peoria Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 70-57 to Calvary. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Peoria Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Malachi Persinger, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists, and Gavin Walder who scored 24 points. Walder is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Hunt, who scored six points.
Roanoke-Benson's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-19. As for Peoria Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-11.
Roanoke-Benson was dealt a bruising 72-41 defeat at the hands of Peoria Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Roanoke-Benson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
