Preview: Cordova Lancers vs. Florin Panthers
Cordova and Florin are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Cordova Lancers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Florin Panthers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cordova has three straight victories, Florin has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Cordova didn't have too much trouble with Johnson at home as they won 68-52.
Cordova's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Baron Sabir, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Malachi Gorman, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Florin, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-51 loss to West Campus on Wednesday. Florin has not had much luck with West Campus recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Cordova is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Florin, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cordova against Florin in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 72-26 win. Will Cordova repeat their success, or does Florin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
