Softball Recap: Canal Winchester Has No Trouble Against Reynoldsburg

Canal Winchester had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Reynoldsburg Raiders a 16-0 shutout. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Indians this season.

Kendal Mccrea was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Wuelleh, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.

Canal Winchester lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Canal Winchester pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Reynoldsburg, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Canal Winchester will challenge Pickerington Central at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for Reynoldsburg, they will host Teays Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
