Softball Recap: Stephenville FAITH Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Stephenville FAITH, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 25-13 margin over the Santa Anna Mountaineers on Monday. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 11 runs per game.

McKenzi Black made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Black was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Stephenville FAITH let Carly Popp and Karsyn Bedwell loose on the outfield. Popp went 2-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and five RBI, while Bedwell went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Popp is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Marissa Gilliss, who went a perfect2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Stephenville FAITH always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .689. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Stephenville FAITH's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.
