Baseball Game Preview: Jo Byrns Red Devils vs. Trousdale County Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Jo Byrns will face off against Trousdale County. The Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Jo Byrns took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Trousdale County by a score of 6-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Adam Riley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Jo Byrns is 3-1 when Riley posts one or more home runs, but 7-14 otherwise.

Riley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Clay Woody, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Woody has posted since back in April. Drake Brown was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Jo Byrns pushed their record up to 10-15 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Trousdale County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10-1 record this season.
