            Baseball Preview: Providence Pioneers vs. Chadwick Dolphins        
        
		
        
        
            For the second straight game, Providence will face off against Chadwick. The Pioneers will be playing at home against the Dolphins  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Providence needed a bit of extra time to put away Chadwick. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  4-3  win over the Dolphins. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 24, 2023, but that streak is no more.

 Adrian Contreras made a splash while hitting and pitching. He  struck out six batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. He also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Providence is 5-2 when he allows at  most  one  earned run, but 1-7 otherwise. Contreras was also stellar in the batter's box,  getting on base  in all five of his plate appearances with two  doubles, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI. The dominant performance also gave  him a new career-high in  hits (three).
 In other batting news,  Jason Carrillo was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those  three  hits gave  him a new career-high.
 Chadwick is  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 5-8. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the  losses came by an average of only 2.75 runs. As for Providence, their  victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-9.
