Recap: Northwest Jaguars vs. Quince Orchard Cougars
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Northwest Jaguars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Quince Orchard and snuck past 29-26. Northwest's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Northwest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Vongprachanh-Nelson led the charge by picking up nine receiving yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 244 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Xavier Rivers got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory was the third in a row for Northwest, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 6-5 Einstein (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.5% over those games). As for Quince Orchard, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1.
Northwest will take on Broadneck at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Broadneck is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. Quince Orchard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
