Baseball Game Preview: Creighton Prep Junior Jays vs. Fremont Tigers

The Creighton Prep Junior Jays will challenge the Fremont Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Creighton Prep will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Friday, Creighton Prep made easy work of North Platte and carried off a 10-1 victory. That looming 10-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Junior Jays yet this season.

Braden Caito tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Creighton Prep got a massive performance out of Cal Anthony, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Anthony has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Teddy Stratman, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Creighton Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Fremont didn't have quite enough to beat Gretna on Friday and fell 3-2.

Creighton Prep pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Fremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
