For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Lakeside and Castor have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Warriors blew past the Tigers 9-3. Considering the Warriors have won 18 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
McKenna Chreene spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Teal Austin was incredible, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Raleah Harris, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Lakeside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Castor struck out six times.
Lakeside's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Castor, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Lakeside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Castor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Converse at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
