Football Recap: Sequoyah Piles Up the Points Against Kell + How To Watch

Sequoyah had won eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 3-0 to make it nine. They breezed past the Kell Longhorns to the tune of 37-6. The Chiefs pushed the score to 23-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Longhorns had little chance of recovering from.

Will Rajecki was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 221 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Those 221 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sequoyah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Sequoyah, adding 13 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Leif Hansen: he added nine points with three field goals and another four kicking extra points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Kell fell to 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 37 points in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Kell still got an impressive performance from Moonie Gipson, who rushed for 177 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Gipson is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 121 every time he's taken the field this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequoyah will square off against Riverwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Chiefs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Kell, they will take on Wheeler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
