Softball Recap: Troy Trojans vs. Sidney Yellowjackets

Troy can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. Everything went their way against the Sidney Yellowjackets as the Troy Trojans made off with a 16-1 victory. The win was just what Troy needed coming off of a 9-3 defeat in their prior matchup.

Sophia Knife was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Knife has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Knife was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Troy got a massive performance out of Alexis Ater, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Kaitlynn Price was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Troy's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Sidney, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Troy will take on Anna at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anna is coming into the match with five straight wins on the road, so Troy will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Sidney, they will be playing at home against Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sidney is facing Carroll at the right time seeing as Carroll is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
