Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Trojans vs. Independence Blue Devils

Trinity hasn't had much luck against Independence recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will venture away from home to square off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Trinity is headed into their game with Independence looking for a result a bit more satisfying than what they got in their season opener against John Hay on Saturday. The Trojans and the Hornets finished up their contest with a 28-28 tie.

Meanwhile, while Independence put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Garfield Heights. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 23-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Ryan Suhy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anderson Jolliffe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. David Crooks was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Trinity suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Independence in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
