Basketball Recap: Gretna East Drops Season-High Score on Elkhorn North

Gretna East fought the good fight in their overtime game against Elkhorn North on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 81-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkhorn North. One positive for the Griffins, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Drayke Brown and Talan Hovie certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Brown went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points and five assists, while Hovie went 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Hawley, who posted 12 points.

Gretna East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Elkhorn North, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Gretna East didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-50 win against Bennington on the 30th. As for Elkhorn North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-40 loss against Norris on the 30th.
