Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Areille Marc and Kellisia Grant Lead Evangelical Christian to Victory

Evangelical Christian won the last time they faced Canterbury and things went their way on Friday too. The Evangelical Christian Sentinels secured a 56-51 W over the Canterbury Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sentinels.

Evangelical Christian was led to victory by Kellisia Grant and Areille Marc. Grant went 7 of 12 on her way to 25 points and seven rebounds, while Marc went 5 of 11 on her way to 16 points. Those 25 points gave Grant a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nalah Smith, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Evangelical Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Evangelical Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Canterbury, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1.

Evangelical Christian will welcome Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Evangelical Christian likes a good challenge. Canterbury and Lemon Bay will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
