Football Game Preview: Lathrop Spartans vs. Johansen Vikings + How To Watch

The Lathrop Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Johansen Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Lathrop is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 44-7 win over Ceres. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-0.

Treydon Santos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 91 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries.

Meanwhile, Johansen waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 24-0 margin over the Panthers. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Vikings just coasted through the last quarter.

Lathrop better keep an eye on Anthony Torres. He was instrumental in Johansen's win, throwing for 205 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one TD on the ground. Torres' passing game has become a key predictor of the Vikings' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. 85 of Torres' passing yards were hauled in by Grabriel Ibanez.

Lathrop's record now sits at 5-1. As for Johansen, their record is now 4-2.

Lathrop took their victory against Johansen in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 34-14 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
