Baseball Recap: Nevada Union Takes a Loss

Nevada Union had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 10-15 to make it four. They lost 14-4 to the Reed Raiders. If the Miners were looking for revenge after losing 1-0 to the Raiders when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jack Bryan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Xavier Deniz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Reed, the win got them back to even at 13-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Reed's side, Jakob Bartelheim spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Luke Goddard was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Reed is undefeated when Goddard posts two or more runs, but 8-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Moss, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nevada Union will face off against Yuba City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Honkers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Miners surely won't give up without a fight. As for Reed, they will challenge Reno at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last five games the Huskies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
