Basketball Game Preview: Broughton Capitals vs. Leesville Road Pride

The Broughton Capitals will challenge the Leesville Road Pride at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Broughton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat East Chapel Hill 85-52. Given the Capitals' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 371st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Broughton found their leader in sophomore Jordan Page, who went 12 of 18 on his way to 27 points and eight boards. The game was Page's 17th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Outlaw, who posted six points in addition to ten boards and three steals.

Broughton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Leesville Road had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 81-53 win over Wake Forest. The Pride have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Broughton's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Leesville Road, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Broughton was able to grind out a solid victory over Leesville Road when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 64-55. Does Broughton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Leesville Road turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
