            Basketball Recap: Pike Red Devils vs. Mt. Vernon Marauders        
        
		
        
        
            Pike lost against Mt. Vernon back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Tuesday. The Pike Red Devils fell  66-58 to the Mt. Vernon Marauders. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings  (they are ranked 42nd, while the Marauders are ranked eighth).
 It was another big night for  Luke Ertel, who  went 9-for-17  on his way to 31 points and five  rebounds for Mt. Vernon. Another player making a difference was  Tyler Davis, who  almost  dropped  a double-double with 12  points and nine  boards.
This is the second loss in a row for Pike and  nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Mt. Vernon, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record  this season.
 Looking ahead, Pike will face off against North Central at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. North Central will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  victory, something Pike surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mt. Vernon, they will take on Marion at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Mt. Vernon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1  points per game  this season.
