Baseball Recap: Berkshire Comes Up Short

Grand Valley hit Berkshire with a six-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Badgers fell 12-7 to the Mustangs. If the Badgers were looking for revenge after losing 6-3 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Patrick Brancel was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Berkshire: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Sam Barcikoski was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Berkshire and nudges their season record down to 10-12. As for Grand Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 14-4-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkshire will head out to face off against Southeast at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grand Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Garfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
