Baseball Recap: Questa Has No Trouble Against Penasco

Questa won the last time they faced Penasco and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wildcats blew past the Panthers 15-3. Considering the Wildcats have won ten matches by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Carlos Ortega made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Ortega was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Questa: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ricardo Leon Jr., who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Questa is undefeated when Leon Jr. posts two or more runs, but 1-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Remington Sanchez, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Questa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They are 10-4 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Questa and bumps their season record up to 10-13. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Penasco, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-20.

As of now, neither Questa nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
