Football Game Preview: Clairton Bears vs. Jeannette Jayhawks + Official Tickets

Two dominant signal callers in Jeff Thompson and Kymone Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Clairton Bears will take on the Jeannette Jayhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clairton will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Clairton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Monessen a 50-0 shutout. The Bears' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a point in their last ten games.

Deon Lovelace-Pompey was his usual excellent self, rushing for 114 yards and two TDs on only nine carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Michael Ruffin, who picked up 93 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Jeannette's offense rose to the challenge against a Bearcats defense that boasted an average of only 9.18 points allowed on Friday. The Jayhawks strolled past Bentworth with points to spare, taking the game 38-24.

Clairton better keep an eye on Jayce Powell. He was instrumental in Jeannette's win, picking up 47 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one TD on the ground. Powell also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Another big playmaker for Jeannette was Noah Sunder, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Jeannette, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Sunder, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Jeannette's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Clairton, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Everything came up roses for Clairton against Jeannette when the teams last played back in September, as the squad secured a 57-0 victory. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jayhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
