Basketball Game Preview: Falls Lake Firebirds vs. NCSSM: Durham Unicorns

Falls Lake hasn't had much luck against NCSSM: Durham recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falls Lake Firebirds are taking a road trip to challenge the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns at 6:30 p.m.

Last Thursday, Falls Lake ended up a good deal behind Franklin Academy and lost 64-49. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 578th, while the Patriots are ranked 282nd).

Meanwhile, NCSSM: Durham was able to grind out a solid win over Research Triangle on Friday, taking the game 66-53. The victory continues a trend for the Unicorns in their matchups with the Raptors: they've now won seven in a row.

NCSSM: Durham's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Falls Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-17.

Falls Lake came up short against NCSSM: Durham when the teams last played back in January, falling 59-49. Can Falls Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
