Softball Game Preview: Box Elder Bees vs. Northridge Knights

Box Elder has gone a perfect 7-0 against Northridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bees will take on the Knights at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Box Elder has three straight wins, Northridge has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Box Elder got the win against Mountain Crest by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Bees have won 16 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lucy Braegger made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Richards, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Lucy Griffin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Box Elder was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive games.

Northridge couldn't beat Logan on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Knights fell 8-5 to the Grizzlies.

Box Elder's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Northridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Box Elder took their victory against Northridge in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bees since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
