Softball Recap: Yreka's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Yreka played against Anderson on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Kaelynn DeBortoli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. DeBortoli was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Yreka let Macey Howell and Emmie Freitas run wild. Howell went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI, while Freitas went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Yreka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Yreka's losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 2-18 record. As for Anderson, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Coming up, Yreka will square off against Eagle Point at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Anderson will be paying especially close attention to the Miners' match: after the Miners face off against the Eagles, they'll take on Anderson again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
