Recap: Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers vs. Cobre Indians
While it was all tied up 16-16 at halftime, the Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers were not quite the Cobre Indians's equal in the second half on Saturday. Mesilla Valley Christian School took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cobre. Mesilla Valley Christian School was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cobre apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several SonBlazers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nevaeh Benjamin, who scored 18 points. Benjamin scored a full 51.4% of Mesilla Valley Christian School's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katey Black, who scored 12 points.
Mesilla Valley Christian School now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Cobre, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Mesilla Valley Christian School's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cloudcroft at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th. As for Cobre, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Chaparral at 7:30 p.m.
