Basketball Game Preview: South Atlanta Hornets vs. Columbia Eagles

The South Atlanta Hornets will square off against the Columbia Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Atlanta got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Redan by a score of 37-27 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Columbia entered their tilt with Miller Grove on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They breezed by the Wolverines to the tune of 64-33. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 29 point advantage.

Columbia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for South Atlanta, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.

South Atlanta was dealt a bruising 56-9 loss at the hands of Columbia in their previous matchup on January 14th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Columbia's Aalon Turner, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 14 points along with eight boards and six steals.
