Softball Recap: Defiance Victorious

Defiance proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Liberty-Benton Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

Storie Krebs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Addison Roth was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Aliana Stantz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.

The victory got Defiance back to even at 11-11. As for Liberty-Benton, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Defiance will take on Van Wert at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Liberty-Benton, they will face off against Arlington at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
