High school football: No. 1 Class of 2022 prospect Quinn Ewers commits to Ohio State

After decommitting from Texas late last month, Southlake Carroll star makes quick re-direct to Columbus.

Regarded as the top quarterback and No. 1 overall prospect in high school football's Class of 2022, Quinn Ewers of Southlake Carroll (Texas) announced via Twitter on Thursday he is committed to Ohio State. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder pledged to play for the Texas Longhorns over the summer only to open his recruitment up again late last month.

Ewers was named the MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year in 2019 after throwing for 4,003 yards and 45 touchdowns. He added another 568 yards rushing and nine touchdowns while leading the Dragons to a 13-1 record and No. 17 final national ranking in the MaxPreps Top 25.
The future Buckeye has helped Southlake Carroll go 4-1 this fall by throwing for 1,221 yards and 15 touchdowns against just two interceptions.

Early on in the process, Ohio State has the No. 1 2022 recruiting class according to 247Sports with eight verbal commitments.
