Basketball Game Preview: Kaiser Cats vs. Vista del Lago Ravens

The Kaiser Cats will take on the Vista del Lago Ravens at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kaiser has three straight victories, Vista del Lago has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Wednesday, Kaiser didn't have too much trouble with Arroyo Valley as they won 58-39. The Cats pushed the score to 51-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hawks cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Vista del Lago played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Citrus Hill 83-41. The Ravens were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-27.

Despite the loss, Vista del Lago saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja'Marion Jackson went 6 for 12 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Morris, who posted eight points.

Kaiser is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Vista del Lago, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.

Kaiser lost to Vista del Lago on the road by a decisive 79-64 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Kaiser, Freddy Alarcon (who went 11 of 22 on his way to 32 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
