Turns out that the 2007-08 Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) state championship basketball team was pretty special.

Three professional athletes in three different sports were on the Eagle roster that season, led by then-senior guard and now NBA all-star Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors.

Thompson averaged 22.1 points per game as a senior and erupted for 37 in the state championship game – a 72-55 victory over Sacramento. The sharpshooter moved on to Washington State the next season and he's looking like a good bet to win another NBA title this season after the Warriors won it all last season.

Trayce Thompson, Klay's younger brother, was a junior contributor in 2007-08 and is now an outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Trayce blasted a home run Tuesday night that got Twitter talking:

Finally, there is current Dallas Cowboys tight end Gavin Escobar, who was listed at 6-foot-5, 180 pounds on Santa Margarita's roster that season. Now 260 pounds, Escobar has seven touchdowns in three seasons with the Cowboys.
