Basketball Recap: Center Has No Trouble Against Bridge City

Center won the last time they faced Bridge City and things went their way on Saturday too. The Center Roughriders enjoyed a cozy 58-40 win over the Bridge City Cardinals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Roughriders.

Tim Johnson was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 11 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmarion (JA) Smith, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Center's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Bridge City, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

Center and Bridge City should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Center (ranked 337th) will meet Jacksonville (ranked 783rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Center is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Bridge City (ranked 341st) will meet Lumberton (ranked 785th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
