Baseball Recap: Kirkwood's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

There's no place like home for Kirkwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Todd County Central Rebels on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cobras as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Cole Johnson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mathew Dirks was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Kirkwood's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Peyton Deloach, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Kirkwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-15. As for Todd County Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.

Coming up, Kirkwood will square off against Milan at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Todd County Central, they will face off against Franklin-Simpson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
