III Section V recap October 29, 2013
Canyon del Oro extended the longest winning streak in III Section V this week by beating Flowing Wells, 49-13. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
The Caballeros fell to Canyon del Oro 49-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Satchel Burton ran for 153 yards in the defeat.
Jordan Closs-Lopez threw for 191 yards and 3 touchdowns.
JJ Metz was the best wideout in the league this week as Dustin Peace's team beat Mark Brunenkant's team. Metz tallied 6 receptions for 190 yards.
The Dorados' Closs-Lopez and Metz led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Closs-Lopez has thrown for 1,367 yards this season, while Metz has 23 catches for 722 yards. Dionte Flores from the Caballeros leads the league in rushing with 1,240 yards.
A big matchup in III Section V this week will be when Catalina Foothills takes on Maricopa. As it stands, the Falcons are in second, while the Rams are in third.
