Football Recap: Serra Catholic Falls to California in First Game of Season

Serra Catholic unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 44-14 loss at the hands of the California Trojans on Friday. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Malachi Peak was a one-man wrecking crew For California. as he rushed for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Those 148 rushing yards gave Peak a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Hartley, who rushed for 23 yards and one TD.

Coming up, Serra Catholic will take on Clairton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for California, they will face off against Cornell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
